Jim Pruitt Files For Final Full Term as Rockwall Mayor

Mayor Jim Pruitt

(ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 16, 2019) Rockwall Mayor Jim Pruitt has filed for his final full term as Mayor in the May city elections.  The City of Rockwall has term limits and the Mayor is limited to three, two year terms.

Pruitt, 62, has served on the Rockwall City Council since 2012 and was elected Mayor in May of 2015.

“I am honored the citizens of Rockwall have placed their trust in me for the last four years as Mayor.  We have had many challenges as well as opportunities along the way.  I am so proud of my fellow council members, who work hard everyday to make this the great City that it is.”

A fiscal conservative, Pruitt declared that officials must continue to concentrate on fiscal responsibility that focuses on limiting growth in property tax increases.   “I am proud that I have been a Mayor that has led the effort to decrease our tax rate in each year I have served,” he stated.  “I assure you that I will work hard to continue this conservative trend.”

Since being sworn in as Mayor, Pruitt has been proactively reaching out to the public.  He has instituted official office hours to meet with citizens one on one and has attended countless community events and meetings.  “It is important that citizens know that they have a voice in their government,” he said.  He has additionally spent time outlining his specific vision for the future  which includes increasing the size and quality of new homes; continuing to focus on improving roads and transportation; emphasizing parks and recreation programs; and encouraging more residents to get involved in city volunteer opportunities.

Pruitt practices mediation law in a renovated office building that dates back to the early 1900’s just off the downtown square.    He is married to Rockwall County District Attorney Kenda Culpepper, has four children, and is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall.

“I am so proud to be the Mayor of this great city,” he said.  “I hope the citizens will do me the honor of allowing me to continue serving in a position that I love.”
