A Look Inside the Lyons’ Den

A Look Inside the Lyons’ Den

(ROCKWALL, TX, — February 27, 2019) Holly and Johnny Lyons of Lyons Air Conditioning and Heating have poured their passion into giving back to their beloved community of Rockwall – the place they’ve called home for the past 13 years. You might even say that the call to help others runs in their blood.

“We’ve always had a passion for helping people and serving people,” Johnny said.

When he was growing up, Johnny said he always thought he would end up being a firefighter or police officer. In fact, he was a certified EMT and was going through the Fire Academy when he met his wife, Holly, in southern California. At the time, Holly was working for her aunt and uncle’s construction company building custom homes while studying Fashion Merchandising in Los Angeles. Aside from his Fire Academy duties, Johnny was also working as a subcontractor for Holly’s family’s company, installing the air conditioning units for the homes they built.

“We just instantly connected,” Johnny said. “She was the sweetest girl I could find in southern California.”

After they married, Holly and Johnny moved out to Texas and eventually started their own air conditioning and heating business, providing quality air and HVAC repair services to the community they’ve grown to love.

“I like the idea of being able to help people and make people comfortable,” Johnny said. “I look at this business as an emergency business; if you don’t have heating or cooling in extreme weather conditions, you could die. I sincerely look at it as a necessity in life.”

Johnny said he always looks for opportunities to go above and beyond for his customers.

“I try to give something extra for every customer, more than what they’re paying for,” Johnny said. “It’s my favorite thing to do because it’s an opportunity to give back.”

Like Johnny, Holly also finds a lot of joy in giving back to others in the community. She took her passion for mentoring young women and joined the Rockwall Soroptimist, where she served as president for the club in 2016. She has also served on the board of Meals on Wheels for the past five years.

“I think about all of the seniors who live alone and don’t have any of their children or family close by to care for them. There is a such a need in our community to care for these seniors,” Holly said.

Seeing Holly making such a positive impact in the community led Johnny to soon follow suit.

With a strong interest in national politics and a sincere love for his country, Johnny signed up to volunteer “wherever they had a need” at the City of Rockwall. He was called in for an interview with the city council and selected to serve on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Johnny has served with the P & Z for the past five and a half years, including as chairman for the past year and half.

Two years ago, Johnny also had the honor of being chosen to serve on the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC).

“That was an incredible opportunity to get to serve on the CPAC,” Johnny said. “We held three- to four-hour meetings every single month for about two years planning the 20-year vision for our city. We really worked hard to get the input of everyone who lives here, because we wanted it to really be the community’s vision.”

When they’re not running their family business or serving the community, Holly and Johnny enjoy spending time with their two boys, Jadon (13) and Jevin (7); listening to live music; catching a movie at the Cinemark; going out on the lake; and watching their boys play baseball. Holly and Johnny have attended and served Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall for the last 12 years and had the amazing opportunity to go on mission trip together to Africa in 2010. Holly also loves playing tennis and doing crafts. On occasion, you can catch Johnny performing at charity gigs with his band, The Johnny Lyons Band.
