Panther PRIDE Robotics Roars into State Competition

(ROCKWALL, TX – Feb. 19, 2019) The Panther PRIDE Robotics competition team from Dorothy Smith Pullen Elementary School recently competed in the VEX IQ Challenge held in Greenville, Texas emerging victorious.

The 6th grade team, comprised of Bronwyn Ferris and Grant Jordan, competed against other middle school teams in grades 6-8. The team won Robot Skills Champion, 2nd Place in teamwork and won the tournament Excellence Award.

Grant Jordan programmed the robot to drive autonomously helping secure their wins. Using only programming skills and by forgoing use of a remote, robot number 3097A earned significant points with no one “driving” it.   The combination of high scores in previous competitions with their current scores, their high teamwork finish and a high score on their interview with three judges earned Ferris and Jordan the Excellence Award.  The team also qualified to compete at the state level.

The team is under the tutelage of the Rockwall-Heath High School Black Hawks Robotics team.
