Children’s Relief International to Host Green Door 5/10K Race

(ROCKWALL, TX – March 5, 2019) Join Children’s Relief International on Saturday, April 27, 2019 for its 10th Annual Green Door 5/10K Race and 1-mile Fun Run!

The Green Door Race supports Children’s Relief International’s (CRI) Green Door Project which builds homes in Mozambique, Africa and Haiti. For 10 years, the Green Door Race has helped CRI, a Rockwall-based NGO, fund the construction of over 300 homes for widows, orphans, and families living in deep poverty. The goal for the 10th Annual Green Door Race is to raise funds for 26,000 cinder blocks—the equivalent of 50 Green Door homes.

For five years, Holly Green has participated in the race. When asked about the event, she says, “In 2015, I traveled with CRI to Mozambique. I met Pedro, an elderly, disabled man. When he explained the hardships of living in a mud hut, I learned that his roof leaked and that holes in his walls let in malaria-infected mosquitoes. When rains flooded his hut, his family slept standing up. Pedro couldn’t stand up. He later received a Green Door home.

Since then, my family has not only run the race, but we’ve advocated for CRI. When you run or sponsor the race, you make a difference in the lives of people like Pedro.”

Whether you’re a competitive runner or novice with a heart for the poor, CRI welcomes all to participate. Expect a day of fun—with live music, photo booths, face painting, and more. The course loops Harry Myers Park and surrounding neighborhoods. Racers can access chip-timed results after the event.

Race sponsorships for families and businesses range from $250 to $2,600. Publicity and perks depend on sponsorship level. Early registration and sponsorship sign-ups are open and strongly encouraged. Pre-register online at www.greendoor5k.com before April 10, and receive a free race t-shirt.
