City of Rockwall Goes Blue For Kids

(ROCKWALL, TX – April 11, 2109) Have you noticed Rockwall City Hall and the Police Department among the buildings around town basked in blue light? The Rockwall City Council voted to recognize the Children’s Advocacy Center’s (CAC) Go Blue for Kids campaign. The Council also proclaimed April as Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month, as a way to increase awareness about child abuse and neglect throughout Rockwall County.

Mayor Jim Pruitt helped kick off the month-long awareness campaign on Monday, April 1, at the CAC Go Blue for Kids launch event, by vowing the support of the City Council for the CAC’s cause. At their meeting that same evening, the Rockwall City Council also presented a proclamation to all the groups working to keep kids safe in time of crisis, including the CAC, the Rainbow Room, and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). “While Rockwall is a safe and wonderful place to live, as we grow it is a fact of life that there will be some families in crisis, and it’s our responsibility to protect the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Mayor Pruitt. “Campaigns like this one are important to help shed a light on the problem and engage the community in finding solutions.”
