(ROCKWALL, TX – June 28, 2019) Looking for a job in today’s market can be frustrating, demeaning and lonely. Job Connection, a Ministry of Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, has introduced a program of classroom-style training combined with networking/discussion-style meetings for people who are struggling in their job search. The training and workshops are free and open to everyone.

“You do not have to be a member of any church, group or even a resident of any particular geographical area to participate.  In other words – open to all, free to all; no obligation,” said Bobby Cornelius, lead trainer at Job Connection.

As a ministry, Job Connection’s primary objective is sharing Christ and building believers as they support and guide job seekers to their next great job.

“We are a Christian based organization that comprises Christian professional men and women who have the particular skills necessary to help guide, teach and support job seekers during what is typically a very dark time in their lives,” Cornelius said. “We are a totally volunteer organized, managed and run organization.”

The program includes Classroom-Style Training at 9 a.m. Tuesdays, supplemented by Networking/Discussion at 9 a.m. Thursdays, in Room A128 of Lake Pointe Church.  For the latest information and current schedule, visit www.lakepointe.org/jobconnection

“Just as in school, when taking Art or Chemistry, there is a classroom portion AND a Lab portion.  Both are important. Oftentimes in a classroom setting, there is a lot of information to adsorb in a short period of time so the Lab is used to work out the detail with practical examples to further imbed the learning,” Cornelius explained.

The Thursday sessions are split into two parts: 1) a quick review (1 hour) of the topic that was presented on the previous Tuesday, and 2) another current, relative topic such as Salary Negotiation or Restarting a Job Search.

“One particular Thursday program is Mock Interviews.  In Mock Interviews, everyone has an opportunity to a “formal interview” with one of our seasoned professionals.  In the Mock Interviews, the participant receives something that they can’t receive when they interview with a company – FEEDBACK!  At the Mock Interviews, the interviewer gives the individual coaching, guidance and advice about how to improve their performance in the interview,” Cornelius said.
