Rockwall Rotary Celebrates 80 Years of Service Above Self

(ROCKWALL, TX – Sept. 27, 2019) The Rockwall Noon Rotary Club celebrated its 80th Anniversary last night at The Landing at ChandlersStan Lowrance DDS shared the 33-year history of Hot Rocks Bike Ride, Rotary’s signature fundraising event – even displaying the original race t-shirt from 1987.

Rockwall Rotary President Leslie Buie opened the program. Billy Self and Cindy Tayem gave the invocation and pledge. Jared Schweers presented Rotary’s 4-Way Test: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Larry Parks read the names of all those who have served as president of the organization, whose motto is “Service Above Self.” President-Elect Dana Macalik spoke on the club’s future.

The event included casino gambling with fabulous donated prizes. Rotarian David Sweet, Rockwall County Judge ended the program with a call for donations, starting a $1,000; as a result, attendees generously contributed over $11,000 which will help fund annual scholarships for Rockwall ISD students.
