(ROCKWALL, TX — October 22, 2019) The Office of State Rep. Justin Holland released the following statement on the recent announcement by Speaker Dennis Bonnen that he will not seek reelection for the office of Speaker of the Texas House:
“Today’s announcement by Speaker Bonnen that he will not seek the Office of The Speaker of the Texas House for another term was the right thing to do for Texas. We must all be held accountable for our actions. Now, it’s time for Texas House Republicans to be able to fully celebrate and promote the good work we accomplished in Austin this year. For the last three months, we’ve been hamstrung by distractions. I’m fed up with the victories of the House being overshadowed by political discord. We are all elected to work for our beloved state and for our districts. In short order, I look forward to playing a unifying role in selecting our new Republican leader. It’s time to move on, get to work and bring all of our Republican colleagues back in 2021.”
