EastTex Regional CERT to host free emergency preparedness training

CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is a program through FEMA to help train and organize local citizens to help during disasters or other times of need. EastTex Regional CERT is sponsored by the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management, and are an all-volunteer organization that helps local law enforcement, fire, and emergency management during public events, post-disaster recovery, or for missing person searches. They support Rockwall, Hunt, Collin, Kaufman, and Van Zandt Counties, and also the Town of Sunnyvale.

EastTex Regional CERT will host two 2-day training sessions:  8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, January 18 and Saturday, January 25 at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Canton (28171 TX-64 Canton, TX 75103); and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, February 8 and Saturday, February 15 at the Rockwall Sheriff’s Office.

This is a FREE 2-day class (both days are required) that will teach you many preparedness tips to help protect your family. You must be 14 or older to take the class.  For those that are 18 and above, if you wish, you can choose to be an active member of the emergency callout team and be put on our call-out list.
