Rockwall County Commissioners Court honors post-9/11 veterans

The Rockwall County Commissioners Court recognized the county’s post-9/11 veterans during its meeting on Jan. 28.

Around 2,000 post-9/11 veterans reside within the county and continue to serve the community in all areas, including business, government and community service. The court joined Terry Fisher American Legion Post 117 in honoring those veterans with a resolution acknowledging their selfless involvement in their communities since that fateful day on Sept. 11, 2001.

“In Rockwall we have a vibrant and engaged veteran community,” said Mark Kipphut, Terry Fisher Post 117 commander. “The post-9/11 veterans we have in the Rockwall community serve locally in a number of ways. These are veterans who went to war, served our country, and then came back for the good. We are very proud of them and all of our veterans across the county.”

Following the terrorist attacks on 9/11, 4.7 million veterans continue to defend our country in the Armed Forces. Since that day, 7,033 military veterans have been killed, with another 53,077 wounded.
