McLendon-Chisholm Mayor Keith Short announces his re-election campaign

Keith Short files for re-election as Mayor, McLendon-Chisholm City Council

(MCLENDON-CHISHOLM, TX) Mayor Keith Short has faithfully served the citizens of McLendon-Chisholm for the last two years and has filed for a second term.

“The last two years we have been reestablishing the trust by our community and their city government,” Mayor Short said.“Now is the time to move forward and continue our efforts to bring prosperity and economic development to MC.”

During his first term, Mayor Short acted quickly in ensuring on-going fire protection for the city of McLendon-Chisholm and Fire District 22 which resulted in the establishment of McLendon-Chisholm Fire Department. He worked diligently to keep tax rates as the lowest in Rockwall County. Mayor Short also made it priority to forge a strong working relationship with Rockwall County and contiguous cities.

Recently, McLendon-Chisholm held a very successful celebration of the city’s 50th anniversary. This was just one of the ways Mayor Short has continued to support McLendon-Chisholm as a conservative, family-orientated city, and keeping with unity in the community.

As a fourth generation first responder, Keith Short has served the citizens of Royse City and the surrounding areas as a police officer for more than a decade. Prior to his time in law enforcement, Mayor Short honorably served eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps. After completing his military service, he began a career in security and owned a small business in Rockwall until 2005. After deciding to pursue his lifelong dream, he sold his business to enter law enforcement. His highest priority is, and will continue to be, ensuring a safe and secure environment for the families of McLendon-Chisholm.

Mayor Short is committed to keeping McLendon-Chisholm friendly, with rural traditions based on family values. “We will make sure future growth is supported by the infrastructure required to maintain our high-quality, low-density rural environment that benefits all residents,” Short stated. “My re-election campaign is focused on our city, and the ability to maintain goals that support a town where everyone feels like they are home. It would be my honor to humbly continue to serve the citizens of our wonderful community.”

Keith Short is devotedly married to Emily for over 23 years and they have been blessed with 3 children: Michael, Katie and Shelby. You will often find them hosting small family gatherings where they spend time with their children and their 6 grandchildren. They are proud to call McLendon-Chisholm their home and look forward to retiring within this community.
