COVID-19 UPDATE: Message from Rockwall Mayor Jim Pruitt (March 26)
Mayor Jim Pruitt

(ROCKWALL, TX – March 26, 2020) As you may already know, health authorities have informed the City of Rockwall that there are now three confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Rockwall County. The ages of the individuals are: 42, 50 and 82, and all of these reside within the City of Rockwall. They are all being monitored by health officials. Please keep each of these individuals in your thoughts and prayers.

Moving forward, health officials will monitor these cases and provide additional details as they become available to the extent that private patient information can be released. If you have questions, please call the Rockwall County Coronavirus Task Force at 972-204-7080.

I urge every citizen to comply with the Rockwall County Stay-At-Home Order and take all precautions to minimize the spread of the coronavirus. Executive Orders issued at the national, state, and local levels of your government were done to minimize the spread of this virus. Each citizen needs to continue to take this matter seriously. Staying home will be difficult but it is a short-term sacrifice for our long-term health and well-being, both as a community and a nation.

Please reassure our children that we are going to get through this and our society will be stronger than before. Encourage them to do their part as well by becoming educated about this virus, keep in contact by social media only, and remain positive.

The Rockwall County Order has caused certain retail stores to close temporarily. I encourage you to find locally owned small businesses and follow them on social media and see if they are offering opportunities to purchase products online.  Restaurants are offering pickup and delivery options throughout Rockwall. Many local churches are offering online worship opportunities, and I encourage you to participate in one of their services.

As I have said before, this is going to be a tough time for a little while for our City. We all need to stick together, build each other up, and know that we’re all in this together and we’ll get through it together. Again, please keep these citizens that are positive for COVID-19 in your thoughts and prayers, and join me in wishing them a quick recovery. God bless you. Stay safe.

Sincerely,

Rockwall Mayor Jim Pruitt
