Blue Ribbon News Senior Spotlight: John Burton, Rockwall-Heath High School

(ROCKWALL, TX — May 7, 2020) John Burton is a 2020 graduating senior at Rockwall-Heath High School. He also attended Cain Middle School and Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School. He is in the top two percent of his senior class.

John played Attack on the Rockwall Varsity Lacrosse team for four years and was on the 2017 state championship team.  He scored his 100th career goal this spring. He was a delegate to Texas Boys State in June 2019 and was elected to serve in the House of Representatives and named Chairman of the House Environmental Committee.

John attained the rank of Chief #205 which is the highest honor awarded at Camp Stewart for Boys in Hunt, Texas.  Only 215 boys have earned this since 1968.  This honor is based on leadership skills, athletic abilities and service work and is very similar to the rank of Eagle Scout. He plans to attend the University of Texas at  Austin in the fall.  Hook ’em!
