“Today’s circumstances are extremely intimidating and challenging for job seekers as they try to regain their footing,” Bobby Cornelius, Lead Volunteer with Job Connection. “Finding a job has always been difficult to accomplish, not only from a financial perspective, but also from a personal “self worth” perspective.  Then, when you add today’s component of pandemic, layoffs, stock market unrest, etc., people can lose hope and perspective of what to do and where to turn for guidance. Helping these people through their difficult journey in a Christian environment is what Job Connection does.  We provide H.O.P.E. – Help, Opportunity, Prayer and Encouragement.”

When you are unemployed, feeling anxious and uncertain about your future, you are not alone! Feelings of uncertainty after job loss are not uncommon.

When confronted with job loss and unemployment, you may experience a rollercoaster of emotions similar to grieving: shock, denial, anger, sadness, depression and eventually a sense of adjustment.

During the grieving process, you may find yourself faced with a number of challenges including financial concerns, unstructured time and career confusion. You may experience a loss of identity and sense of purpose, diminished self-confidence and an overall feeling of uncertainty. You may question your abilities and withdraw from social circles and contacts. It is important that individuals in these circumstances to surround themselves with a God centered environment that focuses on the consistent saving grace of Jesus Christ.

The Job Connection program is broken into two related and integrated sections:

  • Classroom-Style Training Workshops
  • Networking/Discussion Style Meetings

Classroom-Style Training Workshops

This is a series is a classroom-style training program that is traditionally conducted every Wednesday Room A-128 of Lake Pointe Church. However, during the pandemic period during the year 2020, all meetings were conducted on Zoom. The entire workshop series is repeated throughout the year every Wednesday. Four Classroom-Style Training Workshops are conducted on a rotating basis each Wednesday from 9:00 AM to noon.

Networking/Discussion Style Training

These meetings are conducted each Thursday from 9:00 AM to noon. These workshops are intended to be a supplement to the classroom training by making the classroom less formal with a more personalized approach.
