The Virtual Duck Pluck, presented by Southwest Kia-Rockwall, is 2020 duck season’s answer to celebrating safely during a pandemic while raising funds to benefit the Rockwall branch of the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Texas.
Duck “adoptions” open Tuesday, September 15 at rockwallduckrace.org, where you can “adopt” a duck (or a whole flock of ducks!) for an opportunity to win quacktastic prizes. The cost is only $5 per duck, or get a Quack Pack of five for $25. A Derby Dozen (14 ducks) is $50.
Different from years past, this virtual event will NOT include an actual rubber duck race down the fountain at the Rockwall Harbor, but instead will feature a live stream of the rubber duck mascot “plucking” the winners.
Each duck adoption will be assigned a number, which will correspond to a number on a baby rubber duck. (Note: Duck adopters will not actually receive a duck…and no ducks are harmed in the creation of this quacky event!)
On Friday, October 30, via Facebook Live, the rubber duck mascot will wade through all of the adopted ducks to “pluck” THREE lucky-duck winners! Winners will be announced LIVE on Facebook and then contacted to claim their prize.
