Rockwall Community Playhouse presents Love, Sex & the IRS

(ROCKWALL, TX — March, 21, 2016) Love, Sex & the IRS opens at Rockwall Community Playhouse on March 25, 2016. It is a classic farce that is very appropriate for tax season. Jon Trachtman and Leslie Arthur are two male out-of-work musicians who room together in New York City. To save money, Jon has been filing tax returns listing the pair as married. The day of reckoning comes when the Internal Revenue Service informs the “couple” they’re going to be investigated. Leslie masquerades as a housewife, aided by Jon’s finance, Kate. Complicating matters further, Leslie and Kate are having an affair behind Jon’s back. Jon’s mother drops in unexpectedly to meet her son’s finance, and Leslie’s ex-girlfriend shows up demanding to know why Leslie has changed and won’t see her anymore.

RCP Director Felicia Sykes – a long-time member of RCP and serves on its board and artistic committee – is excited to bring this comedy to Rockwall. She is assisted by her sister, LaDawn Cantu, and the two are dedicating the show to their father who passed away recently.

“He shared his love of theatre with us and was always there to support us in our endeavors,” Felicia said. “He read this play with us before he passed, and he thought it was very funny. We miss him but believe he was here with us all through rehearsals, laughing right along with us.”

The cast is made up of old and new friends. Many of the actors were in The Foreigner, which was also directed by Felicia Sykes. Preston Wells (Jon Trachtman) met his wife, Victoria (Kate Dennis) at RCP. Preston’s twin brother, Austin is playing Arnold Grunion. Another married couple, Brandy Fields (Connie) and her husband, Gene (Floyd Spinner) are enjoying being on stage together in the production, as well. Erika Nannis is making her stage debut as Vivian Trachtman. Heather Smothers (Ms. Jansen) is excited to be back at RCP and is delighted to play such a silly role. Camryn Golin (Leslie Arthur) is a 2014 graduate of Rowlett High and is frequently seen on the RCP stage. He has enlisted in the Air Force and will be attending basic training in May.

Performances will be held: March 25-27, April 1-3 & 8-10 with Friday and Saturday night performances at 8 pm and Sunday matinees at 2 pm. Rockwall Community Playhouse is located at 609 E. Rusk Avenue, just two blocks from the Square in downtown Rockwall.
