Robert A. Dye will present “Landscape Painting and the Search for Soulfulness” at our next member meeting on March 27th, 2024. Robert will discuss the evolution and social function of landscape painting, historically, and up to the present. In his presentation, Robert will explain the methodology of his recent works in which he combines the careful study of geometry and of nature with the painterly playfulness of abstract expressionism. Also included will be a discussion of his personal history and the current of art history with musings about the future of landscape painting in the global electronic information age.
Robert is a professional artist and writer who paints evocative large-scale landscape and abstract paintings and intimate plein air paintings. His large studio paintings exude richness in light-saturated oils. Additionally, he paints smaller plein air landscapes in oils and in watercolors. Robert’s paintings are held in private collections throughout the U.S. and in Europe. He has had numerous one-person shows of his work in Philadelphia and in Dallas.
