Blue Ribbon News Editor-in-Chief Dawn Redig has 35 years experience in print and broadcast journalism. She is a former Dallas Morning News editor, reporter and columnist. She has also worked at The Beaumont Enterprise, The Orange Leader, KBMT-TV Channel 12, Hall Publications/Nintendo/NFL Playoff, CBS Radio, and Lamar University/University Press.

Dawn serves on the Board of Directors of Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County and the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County. She is active in the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, where her husband served as 2018 Chairman of the Board. She is a charter member of the Rockwall Professional Women’s Alliance.

Blue Ribbon News Editor and Senior Staff Writer/Reporter Austin Wells is a graduate of the University of North Texas where he studied radio, television, and film. He’s a pretty awesome photographer, too!

Austin is a native of Rockwall and graduated from Rockwall High School in 2007. He has worked for the Rockwall Herald Banner and CBS Radio. He is the author of Images of America: Heath, which captures the history of Heath, TX through vintage photos. He serves on the board of the Rockwall County Historical Foundation and is a member of Young Professionals of Rockwall. He has performed on stage with the Rockwall Community Playhouse.

Amy Sidebottom is our Lead Designer and Layout Editor whom we rely on for just about everything. You name it, she does it – from ad creation and copy writing to layout of our publication.

Amy truly has a can-do attitude. She is fast, she is brilliant – and she always brings treats and homemade cookies to the office on birthdays and holidays. She came to us from the Dallas Morning News and you can call on her for anything!

Casey Washington is our Media Assistant who keeps us on track and handles administrative needs and just about anything and everything. She’s a mom of three boys and former teacher so she knows how to juggle and manage our crazy schedules.



Samantha Redig works part-time as an intern, assisting with social media and marketing services. She is in grad school at University of Texas at Dallas.
