(ROCKWALL, TX — March 22, 2016) Two up and coming young Rockwall pianists were selected as winners of their respective divisions at the recent Texas A&M Commerce Sonata-Sonatina Competition. The event was held Saturday, March 5, 2016 in the concert hall of the university. Over 80 young pianists competed in 15 divisions of required repertoire. Winner in Division 9 was Mia Vu, a 6th grade student at Grace Hartman Elementary. Mia performed a Sonatina movement by Kabalevsky. Winner in Division 13 was Emily Vu, an 11th grade student at Rockwall High School. Emily performed a Sonata movement by Beethoven. Both are students of Michele McDonald. Congrats to these two very talented pianists!
