(ROCKWALL, TX — April 4, 2016) The Terry Fisher American Legion Post 117 invites the community to celebrate the birthday of the American Legion at the Center in Rockwall (108 East Washington St) on Sunday, April 10, at 1 p.m. The program will feature the outstanding students of the Rockwall community selected to represent Rockwall County at the American Legion Dept of Texas Boys State/Girls State program this summer.
The event will also include a demonstration from Patriot Paws Service Dogs, patriotic music presented from Royse City High School, and a presentation from last year’s delegates to Boys State/Girls State.
The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, service members and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States.
