(GARLAND, TX — Aug. 19, 2016) When Garland ISD’s new fiscal year starts Sept. 1, district employees will see an increase on their paychecks. The GISD Board of Trustees approved a 2.25-percent raise for all full-time staff Tuesday evening. This decision marks the eighth salary increase for employees since 2008 and allows the district to continue to offer competitive compensation.
The board will vote on the 2016-17 budget at its Aug. 23 meeting. A public hearing about the proposed budget and tax rate will be held prior to that meeting at 6 p.m. in the Harris Hill Administration Building.
On Tuesday, trustees also heard information about the district’s new GISD Ready initiative. It aims to empower globally competitive graduates by transforming teaching and learning for the 21st century. For more information, visit the GISD Ready web page.
Nikketta Wilson was approved as the new principal at Coyle Middle School. She currently serves as an assistant principal there. Karla Massey was also approved as the new principal at Bradfield Elementary School. She will transition from an assistant principal position at Park Crest Elementary School.
