Rep. Ratcliffe launches Congressional Student Leadership Program

(ROCKWALL, TX  — Aug. 4, 2016) Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) announced earlier this week the launch of the Congressional Student Leadership Program (CSLP) for high school students in Texas’ 4th District. The Program aims to teach students about the role of the federal government and functions of a congressional office while allowing them to engage with their congressman and discuss public policy issues affecting our country.

“It’s important to realize that today’s students will be tomorrow’s leaders. I’m proud that the Congressional Student Leadership Program will offer young folks in Texas’ 4th District the opportunity to grow the skills they need to make a real impact in their communities – now and in the future,” Ratcliffe said. “We’ve got a lot of bright students throughout the 18 counties I’m proud to represent, and I’m sure the work they accomplish through the Program will be quite impressive.”

Each fall, the Program will include a group of students to participate for the duration of the school year who will be selected based on their academic achievement, extracurricular involvement and demonstration of leadership. Applications for the 2016-2017 school year must be submitted by Friday, Aug. 19.
