RHS cross country teams win big at annual Sting meet

(ROCKWALL, TX — Oct. 11, 2016) Rockwall High School saw its varsity boys and girls teams earn first place in the annual Sting meet on Saturday, Oct. 8. Eight schools participated in the meet, which included about 250 runners.

Leading off for varsity girls was Kaitlyn Stark in 1st place with a time of 20:42, followed by Allyson McCutcheon in 2nd place with a time of 21:04, taking 3rd place Ariel Hopkins with a time of 21:24, 4th place earned by Liah Collins at 21:29 and Maddie Null in 5th with a time of 21:32. Also placing for girls varsity was Rylie Robertson in 7th place at 22:46 and Abigail Graves in 9th with a time of 22:52.

Also competing in the girls varsity division were Kathryn Avery, Ana Gonzalez, Audrey Cdebaca, Faith Robertson, Annie McKee and Chloe Cavaness.

The boys varsity team was led by Damon Lewis in 2nd with a time of 18:02, followed by Austin Shumake in 3rd with a time of 18:33. Taking 6th was Jose Olivarez with a time of 19:06, Jack Hittson-Smith took 7th place at 19:10, Wilson Null came in 11th place with a time of 19:32. Also rounding off this varsity team was Campbell Kutac with a time of 20:22 and Nick Roland at 20:57.

Both the boys and girls junior varsity teams placed in the meet. Congratulations to the boys junior varsity for earning a first place team finish and the girls junior varsity for their 2nd place team finish!

The Rockwall XC students have their district meet on Oct. 22 in Tyler and the regional meet the following week.
