(ROCKWALL, TX — Feb. 28, 2017) Eight new volunteers were sworn in for Lone Star CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) on Wednesday, February 22 by Judge Bret Hall. Volunteers must complete 30 hours of training, as well as observe court and visit a CPS office and children’s emergency shelter. Once they are sworn in, volunteers are assigned to children who are in foster care in Kaufman and Rockwall counties. The volunteers advocate for the best interest of their CASA children. Volunteers are needed to insure each child in foster care has a “voice” in court. The next new volunteer training will begin in May. For information, call 972-772-5858.
