(ROCKWALL, TX – March 28, 2017) The most famous kid in Rockwall was honored for his efforts in fighting childhood hunger in the county this morning during the Rockwall County Commissioners Court meeting. Rockwall County Judge David Sweet read the following proclamation recognizing 7-year-old Rockwall resident Kaden Newton and his nonprofit Mac & Cheese and Pancakes:
Whereas Kaden Newton, a Rockwall County resident, has given much to the citizens of Rockwall County through his time, dedication and community service;
Whereas Kaden Newton has undertaken the task of raising awareness on childhood hunger and takes actions to ensure all of our county citizens have access to food for their families;
Whereas Kaden Newton has formally launched a Texas nonprofit corporation named Mac & Cheese and Pancakes which confronts childhood hunger issues in our community, and provides direct food resources to these children and their families;
Whereas Kaden Newton has demonstrated leadership, true entrepreneurial spirit, personal discipline and achievement;
Now therefore it be resolved that the Rockwall County Commissioners Court hereby commends and honors Kaden Newton of Mac & Cheese and Pancakes for his outstanding achievement and contribution to Rockwall County and surrounding areas.
At age 4, Kaden decided he wanted to help feed the poor. After donating some food to the Helping Hands of Rockwall County Food Pantry, he noticed that while there was a lot of food in the pantry, there wasn’t a lot of food kids like to eat. So Kaden decided to begin a food drive to collect kid-friendly foods for the pantry, and thus Mac & Cheese and Pancakes was born. Since founding the nonprofit, Kaden has collected over 20,000 pounds of food for kids in need in the county.
