Good food, wine and fellowship abound at Chef’s Challenge

(ROCKWALL, TX — May 26, 2017) Last night’s Chef’s Challenge was full of mouthwatering fun! Rockwall County Helping Hands held the event at Culpepper Steak House. Attendees enjoys culinary creations from some of the most creative chefs in the area!

Judge’s Choice Award – Dodies Cajun Café, Chef Dan
People’s Choice Award – Occasions at Stone River, Chef Zach
Most Creative Award – Opa! Greek Taverna, Chef Kostas

Helping Hands President Jon Bailey was master of ceremonies and spoke about things the general public may not know about agency programs.

Bailey explained, “Helping Hands offers emergency assistance and healthcare to so many of your neighbors in Rockwall County. We are excited to see how Helping Hands will grow to meet the needs of our county. Something everyone may not know about is our Recycled Sales Program. We strive to turn donated items that may not be sellable in our stores into another revenue stream for the agency. We work to make every donation stretch to the good of our community.”

Those in attendance enjoyed wonderful food from Dodies Cajun Café, Fatted Calf, Occasions at Stone River, Opa! Greek Taverna and SweetFace Bakery. Wines in the wine tasting portion of the event were enjoyed and the live music from Brett Morrison and his band made this easy going event a huge success!

Bailey continued, “Over 17 percent of our county falls below the federal poverty level,” Bailey said. “So together, as this county continues to grow, so does the need. We still have a long way to go, but with your gifts we are certainly headed in the right direction, so I thank you for that.”
