Rep. Holland wraps up first legislative session in the Texas House

(ROCKWALL, TX — May 31, 2017) In the 140 days of the 85th Texas Legislature, State Representative Justin Holland (R-Heath) successfully passed a package of bold and conservative legislation through the House as well as the Senate, in which currently await Governor Abbott’s signature before officially becoming law.

State Rep. Holland authored legislation that cuts through regulatory red tape allowing businesses to better operate in Texas, expands Second Amendment rights through online training for license to carry (LTC) classes, secures protection for family of peace officers, and reforms A-F accountability ratings for public education.

“I’m proud of the work I did to pass 10 out of 17 bills that I filed this session and especially proud to announce that I co-authored bills to enhance private property rights, protect the unborn, increase funding for the Teacher Retirement System, and reform the Dallas pension system,” Rep. Holland said. “As a freshman legislator, I worked diligently with my colleagues to tackle issues that are important to my district, including my votes against taxpayer funded toll roads and a bill to allow Collin College to offer a four year baccalaureate degree in nursing.”

Additionally, Rep. Holland supported and co-authored all five of the Governor’s emergency items:

Ban on sanctuary cities
Child Protective Services reform
Article V, Convention of States
Ethics reform
New requirements for voter identification
