(ROCKWALL, TX – May 10, 2017) Women in Need has found a new home in Rockwall and on Tuesday, May 9, the nonprofit domestic violence agency invited the community to commemorate the occasion with a grand opening celebration.
WIN was formerly operating out of the Soroptimist House on Washington Street, now home to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Rockwall County. With help from its board members and members of the Rockwall community, WIN found a new home at 904 N. Goliad St. where it can better serve victims of family violence, as well as offer an ideal location for My Sister’s Closet Boutique.
WIN Board Member Scott Self gave special recognition to fellow Board Member Missy Chilton and her husband, Bob Chilton, who helped kickstart WIN’s capital campaign with a donation of $25,000.
“Missy is more than just a board member; She had walked with me throughout this process of obtaining and renovating this building,” said WIN Rockwall Executive Director Connie Pettitt. “I couldn’t have done it without Missy’s help. Actually, all of my board members and so many community members have really surrounded us and helped us, and really caused this opportunity to come to fruition.”
Those in attendance were treated to snacks, wine, and a tour of the building and the new-look boutique.
