(ROCKWALL, TX — June 1, 2016) Sixth grade SAGE students in Mrs. Kaup’s class at Springer Elementary skyped with a Video Game Designer in Salt Lake City, UT, arranged by Nepris, a company that specializes in connecting classrooms to experts. The students were able to interview the professional and ask questions about how to pursue this industry as a career. He suggested creating their own games starting now by utilizing free software readily available to the public on the internet. He stated that the most powerful thing you can do to prepare to tap into this industry is to have a game you can show you personally made when interviewing with companies. He said a lot of games get their start by working out of their garage or basement. This experience was inspiring to students to follow their dreams, and to know that the time to start is the present.
