(ROCKWALL, TX — August 3, 2017) Join The Colbert Project for a fun night of brotherhood, fundraising, gaming and much more in the 4th Annual Firefighters Ball at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Hilton Dallas/Rockwall Lakefront.
Guests of the black-tie event will enjoy dinner, cocktails, music and dancing, casino gaming, live/silent auctions, and prizes. The event benefits The Colbert Project’s No Brother Battles Alone Fund, which provides support for fellow firefighters and their families during times of financial strife brought on by illness, injury, or other circumstances.
Each year, The Colbert Project provides financial assistance and support to fire families with its Firefighters Ball fundraiser. This year’s Firefighters Ball grantee is 17-year veteran Garth Goodwin of the Waco Fire Department, who sustained a serious spinal cord injury while working off duty on May 11, 2017.
“There is no denying the fact that Garth has impacted many throughout the years or that his family is loved by their department and community,” said Emily Colbert, president of The Colbert Project. “That was made evident to me by the number of individuals submitting nominations on behalf of the Goodwin family. It was truly humbling to see the brotherhood in action and stepping in for one of their own.”
The Colbert Project is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to giving back to those who have selflessly given to the communities in which they serve. The local-based, family-oriented organization works to ensure “No Brother Battles Alone” by assisting local firefighter families facing financial strife brought on by illness or off duty injury.
The Colbert Project is currently seeking sponsorships and donations. For more information, visit thecolbertproject.org.
