Young Rockwall pianists take part in SMU Summer Piano program

(ROCKWALL, TX — August 2, 2017) Recently two Rockwall pianists participated in the Young Artists Summer Piano Institute at Southern Methodist University. Grace Nelms, an upcoming senior at Rockwall High School, has participated for the second year. She is an all-around musician who performs on both piano and cello. She has been the recipient of numerous awards for piano competitions and festivals. Grace plans to major in music with an emphasis on piano and intends to acquire a degree in music therapy. Yunseong Lee, an upcoming 5th grader, takes her piano very seriously often practicing 12-13 hours a week. She, also, has been awarded in numerous competitions the past two years for her piano performances.

Both students and parents have appreciated the summer music program for the catapult it has given students to a higher level of musicianship while still allowing them the opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of their peers. Grace and Yunseong are private piano students of Michele McDonald.
