(ROCKWALL, TX – November 3, 2017) Dodie’s Cajun Diner at The Harbor honored seven graduating military veterans of the Patriot Paws Service Dogs program this afternoon by treating them to a free luncheon at the restaurant.
The veterans and their canine companions joined Patriot Paws trainers and staff for some delicious food prior to the vets’ graduation ceremony Saturday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m. at the Patriot Paws facility. The event includes the grand opening and tours of Patriot Paws’ new 4,000 square-foot kennel housing several outstanding amenities such as 16 indoor/outdoor runs, four play yards, and a veterinary medical room.
Established in 2006 as an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Patriot Paws trains and provides service dogs of the highest quality at no cost to disabled American veterans and others with mobile disabilities and post-traumatic stress to help restore their physical and emotional independence. Each of the veterans works with all the dogs and Patriot Paws trainers during the week prior to graduation, and is then formally paired with his new life service companion during Matching Day.
To continue thanking veterans everywhere for their service, Dodie’s will offer a free entrée from its special Veteran’s Day menu to any veteran who brings in a valid military ID on Nov. 11.
