Rockwall County Treasurer David Peek seeks re-election

(ROCKWALL, TX – January 2, 2018) Rockwall County Treasurer David Peek has announced his desire to keep county tax dollars secure and well-managed by filing for re-election.

“During my time in the courthouse, I have focused on leading the Treasurer’s Department in a fiscally conservative fashion – always remembering that all county funds come from what someone has earned through hard work,” said Peek, who began serving in the office in 2011.

A West Point graduate, degreed civil engineer and former combat arms officer, Peek has been one of the local Republican Party’s most stalwart conservatives.  In addition to managing the county’s money with fiscal discipline, Peek has also improved the return on specific county funds.

“One of my other duties is as the County’s Investment Officer, and since taking office, the taxpayers’ money has seen over $1.3 million in interest earnings,” said Peek, adding, “And every dollar earned in interest is one less dollar raised through taxes.”

After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1998, Peek and his family settled in Rockwall County.  Peek worked for over nine years in the private sector, including seven years with Northrop Grumman.  In 2010 he was elected Rockwall County Treasurer as the Republican nominee.

He has been active in every GOP election since moving to Rockwall County and has worked with many other conservatives to keep Rockwall County solidly Republican.  From 2005-2006, he was the President of the Rockwall County Republican Men’s Club.  He has attended every GOP convention since 2002 and had the privilege to serve as a National Delegate to the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Peek and his wife Kristy have homeschooled all five of their children, and just this year their oldest followed in his father’s footsteps by beginning his studies at the U.S. Military Academy.  Peek has taught Sunday School and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Rockwall.  He is also a past board member of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce.

“I am honored to serve the citizens of Rockwall County and trust that I will earn your vote in this year’s Republican Primary.”

The Republican Primary will be held on March 6, 2018.
