(ROCKWALL, TX — February 26, 2018) The Rockwall Noon Rotary recognized its first ever Rotary Student of Honor from the new Linda Lyon Elementary School last week. Rockwall County Judge David Sweet, RISD Superintendent Dr. John Villarreal and Linda Lyon Elementary Principal Megan Gist presented 6th grader Thomas Baumler with the award at the Noon Rotary’s meeting on Feb. 22.
Baumler is a member of the state champion Robotics team at Linda Lyon Elementary, and also auditioned as a 6th grade student and made the All-City Orchestra, which is primarily made up of 7th and 8th graders. Baumler also did a presentation in front of a room full of principals about data notebooks and how students at Linda Lyon Elementary own their learning.
“We have an amazing group of 6th graders, but Thomas stands out above the others,” Gist said. “He’s a strong student academically, and someone we count on every single day to be a leader. He’s absolutely amazing and we’re very proud of him.”
