The Green Door Race supports Children’s Relief International’s Green Door Project, which builds homes for widows, orphans and the down trodden in Mozambique, Africa and Miragoâne, Haiti. Over the past 8 years the Green Door Race has helped Children’s Relief International, a Rockwall based NGO, build 150 Green Door Homes. In 2017 over 500 runners took part in our Green Door Race. Enough money was raised to build 25 Green Door homes. The goal for the 9th annual Green Door 5/10K is to build 15 more houses for families in need.
Jill Le, participates in the race every year. “The summer of 2010 I went to Mozambique and helped build a Green Door House and I have been helping ever since. I know first-hand that the money goes to give widows, orphans and the handicapped a place to call home. Those who run in this event will forever change the lives of some very needy families. Every dollar helps,” says Jill.
The course loops Harry Myers Park and beautiful Rockwall neighborhoods. Live music from Cocobolo Wind, face painting, vendors and swag bags and more will be onsite to help make the race day experience family friendly. The race is chip timed and medals will be awarded by age group.
Opportunities for families and businesses to sponsor the Green Door race range from $250 up to $2,600 with varying publicity and perks based on sponsorship amounts. Advanced registration and sponsorship opportunities are now open and strongly encouraged. Pre-register online at www.greendoor5k.com before April 15, and receive a free Green Door race t-shirt.
