Commissioners Court Recognizes National Hispanic Heritage Month

(ROCKWALL, TX — Sept. 27, 2018) During its regular meeting on Sept. 25, the Commissioners Court recognized National Hispanic Heritage Month and National 4-H Week in Rockwall County.

County Judge David Sweet read the following proclamation declaring National Hispanic Heritage Month in the county:

“Whereas, the earliest days of American existence, Hispanic Americans have written essential chapters into our national collective story.
Whereas, Hispanic Americans are diverse and they represent many cultures enriching American communities in sharing the dream of equality and vast opportunity toward a perfect union.
Whereas, Hispanics have virtuously defended our nation in war and have helped build prosperity during times of peace.
Now therefore be it resolved to let us celebrate and honor the unique influences of Hispanic cultures during National Hispanic Heritage Month.
Be it further resolved that I, David Sweet, County Judge of Rockwall County, do hereby proclaim September 15 through October 15, 2018 as National Hispanic Heritage Month in Rockwall County and encourage public officials, educators, librarians and Americans in our county to recognize this month with appropriate ceremonies, activities and programs.”
