(ROCKWALL, TX — October 1, 2018) The Rockwall Art League’s 18th Annual Fine Art Show and Sale took place over the weekend of Sept. 21-23 in the Conference Center at the Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club. It proved to be the perfect venue to showcase the works of 55 artists featuring 129 entries representing oils, acrylics, drawing, watercolor, photography, mixed media, and sculpture. Visitors and artists alike enjoyed the evening receptions and an atmosphere filled with beautiful images, appetizers and live music.
Best of Show was awarded to Alisa Fulghum for her drawing titled “Indigo Lights”. The 1st place winners were: Marie Gray (oil) for “Asaph”, Katherine Martinez (acrylic) for “Encroachment”, Marie Gray (watercolor) for “Nehum”, Katherine Martinez (drawing) for “Self Portrait”, Karen Perry (photography) for “Architectural Shadows”, Helen Comeau-Neller (Mixed Media) for “It’s Time”, and Jim Bryant (sculpture) for “Quanah Parker”.
The coveted People’s Choice award, voted on by the show’s 200 plus attendees, went to Marie Gray for the same beautiful work that was awarded 1st place among the oil paintings.
Proceeds from the Annual Fine Art Show and Sale are used to support the Rockwall Art League’s ongoing work through our ArtReach Program and to raise awareness of art in our community. In addition, the Rockwall Art League provides annual scholarships to support high school art students. The scholarship program is made possible through the generosity of Albert Richard Elam and the owner of the Diamond I Ranch, Jason Ivey.
