(ROCKWALL, TX — November 27, 2018) It’s the most wonderful time of the year! There are holiday events happening all December long in Rockwall County. Here are a few of our favorites to celebrate the Christmas season.
Heath Holiday in the Park
Friday, November 30 | Towne Center Park
Join the City of Heath in the countdown to “flip the switch” on the town Christmas tree at 6:30 p.m. with a program featuring the Amy Parks, Dorothy Pullen, and Linda Lyon Elementary School Honor Choirs as well as the Cain Middle School Band and Orchestra. Then spend the evening having dinner in the Winter Village, capturing memories in the holiday photo booth, and enjoying kid-friendly activities like the miniature trains and activity booths. The Rockwall-Heath High School Jazz Band will serenade diners from 6:00-6:30 p.m. so be sure to arrive in time! Enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and coffee throughout the evening. Mrs. Claus and her elves will also serve up some complimentary home baked Christmas cookies donated by the Rockwall Women’s League and National Charity League. Hometown Christmas Celebration & Parade
Saturday, December 1 | Historic Downtown Rockwall
Kick off the Christmas season with a fun-filled day of seasonal festivities, beginning with Rockwall’s Annual Kiwanis Christmas parade starting at 9 a.m. Head downtown afterwards for a visit with Santa in San Jacinto Plaza with snow flurries included! Other activities on the square will include food trucks, snow tubing hills, a scavenger hunt, bounce houses and more. Then at 6 p.m., make your way to Rockwall City Hall for the annual tree lighting ceremony. Info: playrockwall.com/.
Sammy Knostman’s Scholarship Breakfast & Christmas Bazaar
Saturday, December 8 | Rockwall-Heath High School
Come support local high school students with this annual event hosted by over 10 Rockwall-Heath High School clubs and organizations, in memory of Samantha Knostman, who passed away in 2013. From 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. enjoy pancakes cooked by RHHS culinary students, and browse the 20 local vendor shops while enjoying performances by the RHHS Orchestra. Proceeds will benefit the Samantha Knostman Memorial Fund’s annual scholarships for Rockwall & Rockwall-Heath High School seniors. Info: facebook.com/SammyMemorialFund/.
Santa Cops 4 Kids
Saturday, December 8 | Rockwall City Hall
The annual 5K and 1 mile family fun run is held by the Rockwall Police Department and Rockwall Police Officers Association, with proceeds benefiting the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County. At 8:20 a.m. kids will have a great time chasing Santa to kick off the event, and then the race is on with the 1 Mile Fun Run starting at 8:30 a.m. The 5K will then follow at 8:50 a.m. Once the race ends, wind down with complimentary breakfast, coffee and hot chocolate. Saturday, December 8 | The Center, Rockwall City Place
Santa Claus is coming to town! Enjoy an all you can eat breakfast of pancakes, sausage and orange juice while your kids meet Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas. Your little ones will enjoy crafts and activities while munching on candy canes as they enjoy this fun-filled Santa event, so be sure to bring your camera for plenty of photo opportunities! Friends of the Library Christmas Luncheon
Tuesday, December 11 | The Center, Rockwall City Place
The 16th annual Christmas Luncheon benefiting the Rockwall County Library will be held at The Center at Rockwall City Place. Attendees will enjoy a buffet lunch prepared by Zach’s Catering and a special performance by Walk the Line, Rockwall High School’s award winning A Capella group. Co-Chairs for the event are Nell Welborn, Pat Calhoun and Kathleen Broze. Please note that the event is currently SOLD OUT with a long wait list.
Wreaths Across America
Saturday, December 15 | Rest Haven Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Living Nativity
Sunday, December 16 | First Christian Church of Rockwall
Experience a live action nativity scene from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at First Christian Church of Rockwall. The 12th annual Living Nativity will include a large cast and live animals available for children to pet in between performances. This free event of the story of the birth of Jesus is First Christian Church’s Christmas Card to the public. Performances will occur approximately every 20 minutes over the two-hour time frame. After the performance, enjoy hot chocolate and cookies inside the church and gaze at the many different nativity scene displays from around the world.
New Year’s Eve Gala Spectacular
Monday, December 31 | The Hilton Dallas/Rockwall Lakefront
Ring in the New Year and help make the “#milliondreams” for the youth of the Rockwall Boys & Girls Club. What better way to spend the evening than with a circus-themed extravaganza featuring live music, casino tables, a midnight champagne toast, circus entertainment, a mirror photo booth, a complimentary end-of-night chicken and waffle bar and fireworks!
