(ROCKWALL, TX — November 14, 2018) During its meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13, the Rockwall Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of the adoption of the “OurHometown Vision 2040” Comprehensive Plan 2018 Update. The vote came after a public hearing on the item, in which two citizens addressed the P & Z.
Dallas resident Allen Hinckley said he owns 1,961 acres of land included in the Comprehensive Plan. He requested to have the Comprehensive Plan adjusted to fit the plan for a development on his property. The property is located adjacent to the Chisholm Trail mobile homes park, within the City of Rockwall’s ETJ. Hinckley also said the City received fair notice about the development plan for the property in May 2017.
“This property is on the far east part of the city. We want to see a high quality development so that when you’re coming into the city, you can tell you’re coming into the Rockwall,” Hinckley said.
“Having read that section in the Comprehensive Plan, I think it’s going to be a great development,” said Bob Wacker, who serves on the city’s Comprehensive Plan Review Committee. “But there’s too little known right now that we felt we couldn’t put something that specific into the Comprehensive Plan. We listed this area yellow so it looks like it’s all Single Family. But the plan will get updated each year. Probably a year from now we’ll have a lot more details.”
The proposed Comprehensive Plan will go to city council for public hearing on Nov. 19 and Dec. 3 for adoption. To view the complete draft of the plan, visit https://sites.google.com/site/rockwallcomprehensiveplan/.
