(ROCKWALL, TX — April 25, 2019) Rockwall Breakfast Rotary welcomed Patricia Mejia, Administrator for Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County. Her organization is a non-profit agency that provides a multi-agency coordinated approach to the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child sexual and physical abuse. Their facility is a child safe and friendly environment where children and parents feel comfortable and receive the services provided.
Children’s Advocacy Center in Rockwall is the 70th center in the state of Texas and began full services operation in April 2018. Currently they serve approximately 25 children each month. Mejia explained that Texas law states that every adult is responsible to report suspected child abuse. The Child Abuse Hotline is 800-252-5400. Calls can remain anonymous.
