‘Run to the Wall’ to Support Vietnam Veterans on Nov. 9

(ROCKWALL, TX — October 7, 2019) The Friends of the Texas Vietnam Memorial, an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that supports and promotes the Texas Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Fair Park in Dallas, invites you to the 31st annual “Texas Run to the Wall” on Saturday, November 9, 2019. The 30-minute motorcycle ride will start at noon at Globe Life Park in Arlington, TX, and end at the Texas Vietnam Veterans Memorial inside Fair Park. There will be a brief memorial event held at the end of the ride, followed by a celebration at Eight Bells Alehouse.

“The Texas Run to the Wall doesn’t just honor Vietnam veterans, but it honors all veterans and active-duty personnel from each branch of the military. The ride is a celebration of their service and our freedom,” says Gregery Riedi, member of the Vietnam Vets/Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club and a Friend of the Wall.

Interested parties can pre-register for the event online at www.txwall.com for a discounted rate. Day-of registration starts at 10:00 AM on November 9. Ride packages range between $15 and $45. All proceeds from this event will go to support the Friends of the Texas Vietnam Memorial. More information is available at www.txwall.com.

The Texas Run to the Wall started in 1988 as the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club. A year later, former President George H. W. Bush dedicated the Texas Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Fair Park. The memorial features five tablets of Texas granite bearing the names of 3,271 Texans killed in action during the war in Vietnam and 156 missing in action, 54 remains recovered and 102 still missing, will celebrate its 30th anniversary on November 11, 2019. The memorial recently underwent significant restoration and is open to the public to visit during the State Fair of Texas, and year-round.
