Veterans Day Salute: Celestino H. Rodriguez

Veterans Day Salute: Celestino H. Rodriguez

(ROCKWALL, TX — November 4, 2019) My beloved father, Celestino H. Rodriguez was drafted into the United States Army in September of 1943, at a tender age of 18.  He trained at Camp Gruber in Oklahoma and set sail to France at the end of 1944.  On Christmas Eve of 1944, certain members, including dad, of the 42nd Division were sent to Bastogne, Belgium as reinforcements.  Prior to his arrival, General Patton had sent in two armored divisions and he was assigned to Company K, of the 90th Division, also known as, the Tough Hombres.  He wound up fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and was wounded in the Siegfried line on February 19th, 1945.  Celestino still resides in San Antonio, Texas with his wife, Stella, of 68 years.  He has two sons and a daughter.  His youngest son, Richard lives in Heath, Texas and simply wanted to thank his Dad for his service and sacrifices made in providing us the freedoms we enjoy and take for granted today.  Thank you Dad.
