Pickle Ball fun at Grace Hartman Elementary

Rockwall Pickle Ball enthusiasts recently visited Grace Hartman Elementary to teach the fundamentals of pickle ball to students. Several community members joined students in sharing the sport history and teaching ball and paddle handling. Students were able to practice hand-eye coordination, teamwork, volleying and game play.

United States of America Pickle Ball Ambassador Francyne Jewett coordinated the visit and came up with a game plan. Several community volunteers helped this week with Hartman students including Debbie Easton, Edith Cozad, Charlie Smith, Becky Teel and Judy Varnell.

Local Rockwall players held a tournament this year and raised $2,500 to purchase and donate pickle ball equipment to Rockwall ISD.

“This was such a fun week for everyone and it was great to be able to partner with the community to teach pickle ball to our students,” Hartman PE teacher Elizabeth Trowbridge said. “We are so grateful to have the new equipment.”
