Rockwall ISD Parents, Guardians, and Students,

This letter is in support of Dr. Villarreal’s message regarding the start of Online Campus Learning. Our Curriculum & Instruction team has compiled this information to provide parents with a clear direction of how Online Campus Learning will be provided for students.

In an effort to meet the requirements provided by the Texas Education Agency for our students to continue to earn credit for their current grade level or course, we have worked to provide Online Campus Learning to students in lieu of in-person classes while Rockwall ISD schools remain closed through Friday, April 3. For this reason, our Curriculum & Instruction Department created an Online Campus Learning plan for students in each grade level and each course to complete while at home. These activities will engage students with learning experiences that continue the planned learning program and help students stay connected with teachers and classmates. The online learning experience will offer authentic opportunities to focus on key concepts, knowledge, and skills. They will emphasize interaction, creativity, and involve a balance of on-screen and off-screen tasks that help connect to previous learning and current curriculum concepts.

What will Week 1 Online Campus Learning Plans look like for March 18-25?
We are asking each student/family to complete the following Week 1 learning plan between now and next Wednesday, March 25. Please click here for the detailed plan and the date to be completed.

What will future Online Campus Learning plans look like?
Next Monday, March 23, we will transition the Online Campus Learning plans from the district to each classroom teacher. Your student will be contacted through one of the two following online learning platforms: PreK-2nd grade students- Seesaw or grades 3-12 students through Google Classroom. Seesaw or Google Classroom will be the main methods of communication between your child and the teacher, as the teacher will facilitate the remainder of the student’s Online Campus Learning, beginning on March 23. We are confident that your child has used one of these two tools already in their classes. If not, please notify your teacher so they can assist you or your student. Please look for an email from your child’s teacher(s) in the next few days as they begin to facilitate Online Campus Learning beginning on March 23.

What if I do not have a device at home or the internet?
We understand that not every family may have access to the internet and a connected device (computer, laptop, iPad/tablet, chromebook, smartphone) at home and we are prepared to work with families that may need additional support to continue student education remotely. If your family needs assistance in accessing these resources, please complete the Internet Access Survey and a Rockwall ISD staff member will contact you.

Where can I see the Online Campus Learning Plans?
All Online Campus Learning Plans can be accessed on the Rockwall ISD Online Campus Learning Website. New lessons will be posted by grade level and course for the coming week by 4:00 PM each Friday.

What if I have other questions?
Please click our Frequently Asked Question document to help parents. Teachers are also a great resource to answer individualized questions for families.

When it comes to student learning, your child is our priority. Thank you for being understanding and flexible as changes continue to occur and for giving us the opportunity to educate your child in Rockwall ISD!

Sincerely,

Dr. Amy Ellis
Chief Curriculum & Instruction Officer
