With COVID-19 putting communities on lockdown through social distancing, several local nonprofits are proving that where there’s a will, there’s a way. And that way is virtual.
On March 21, Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast hosted a virtual Blue Star Gala fundraiser event, and saw a great number of participants tune in to show their support. Later this month on April 25, the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County will go virtual with its 4th annual Go Blue For Kids (stay tuned to rockwallcac.org as details are finalized). And this weekend (April 3-5), the Rockwall Women’s League will take its annual gala fundraiser virtual with a live-streamed event.
This year’s RWL charity ball, called “The Cat’s Meow”, will feature an online auction with bidding opening up on Friday, April 3, at 12 p.m. and closing on Sunday, April 5, at 5 p.m. On Saturday, April 4, show your virtual support by tuning in to RWL’s Facebook page for the live stream gala from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Virtual participants will then have a chance to enter a drawing for some awesome prizes to cap off the event at 8 p.m.
RWL’s annual ball is the nonprofit’s biggest fundraiser of the year and will benefit other area nonprofits in the form of grants, as well as providing local high school seniors with scholarships. With the current COVID-19 guidelines shutting down local schools, the funds raised from this event will be more important than ever for these students.
To join the virtual Cat’s Meow, text rwlmeow to 243725 or visit http://bidpal.net/rwlmeow.
Ticket purchases made prior to the announcement of the RWL Ball going virtual have automatically converted to a tax-deductible donation. Should you prefer a refund or have any other questions, please email rwlthecatsmeow@gmail.com. Ticket refunds must be requested by April 3, 2020.
