(ROCKWALL, TX — June 5, 2020) Rockwall band Lasting Effect released a new single today called “Numb.”
Four years ago, the band released their first album called “Drift Away” which you can read more about here.
The band’s sound pop punk/metal sound in their first album comes from an assimilation of different musical influences. Lead singer Brandon Leavell, a Rockwall High School graduate, was heavily influenced by pop/punk bands like Green Day, which he credits for getting him into music.
The new single, Leavell said, will be a different approach from Drift Away. He said the idea for the song came from when he was experiencing hard times in his life on a spiritual level.
“The name of the song comes from a time in my life where I felt lonely and disconnected from God, or in a sense, left feeling numb,” Leavell said. “The lyrics took some time to put together because I really wanted to tell a sincere story of how I felt while being mindful of using words that create imagery of what is being told. But I remember the chorus coming together naturally as I was listening to the song’s instrumentals in my car and came up with most of the chorus melody and lyrics then.”
