Honey’s Shaved Ice Shop teams with Big Screens on the Go for Double Feature Movie Night July 9th

Honey’s Shaved Ice Shop teams with Big Screens on the Go for Double Feature Movie Night July 9th

(ROCKWALL, TX — July 8, 2020) Two local businesses are teaming up to bring family friendly fun to the neighborhood. A picnic style double feature movie series begins Thursday, July 9th and will continue for four consecutive weeks. The two businesses partnering are Big Screens on the Go (www.BigScreensOnTheGo.com) and Honey’s Shaved Ice Shop, located at 1021 Kingsbridge Dr. near McLendon-Chisholm.

“We have the ability to show movies before the sun sets, with our state of the art – day bright LED screens and noticed that our favorite shaved ice business has a lot of land to accommodate families while practicing social distance guidelines,” said Brian Bachman, CEO and Founder of Big Screens on the Go.

“We have kids ourselves and love in our family friendly community and have always tried finding ways to make memories with the community and bring fun ideas and this is one of them that I hope really sparks people’s spirits during these crazy times,” said Holly “Honey” Pullen, owner and founder of Honey’s Shaved Ice.

The first double feature will start at 6 p.m. with a screening of “Toy Story” followed by the John Travolta classic “Grease” beginning fifteen minutes after the first movie ends. “We are encouraging families to bring a blanket, some chairs and get ready for some fun under the stars – picnic style,” added Bachman, who along with Pullen is a Rockwall resident.

Pullen will also be marking off spaces in the lawn to ensure everyone is social distancing as well as providing hand sanitizer and encouraging families to keep at least six feet apart from other families.

The cost for the double feature is $20 cash per family which will be collected as cars enter the parking lot. Additionally, Honey’s favorite shaved ice creations are going to be flowing for purchase, plus Legacy BBQ food truck will be serving delicious BBQ.  We are currently working with vendors to provide food options for the following three weeks.

The plan is to host four consecutive movie nights starting at 6 p.m. and showing Toy Story week one, then the following week Toy Story II, the second week, Toy Story III the third week and finally Toy Story 4. The family friendly second movies will be chosen by the public with voting on Facebook.

“We are looking to get residents of the community involved as well and are looking for your input on what you would like to see. The only requirement is that it is family friendly and can be viewed by all ages,” added Pullen.

The main goal is to bring families together and enjoy movies together while being apart. Pullen is planning some special themed shaved ice and other treats available for purchase.

To help vote for movies, and to RSVP to the movie nights, please RSVP on the Honey’s Shaved Ice Shop’s facebook page where any updates and movie titles will be listed each week. Both companies are open to including other area businesses with sponsorship opportunities and give-a-ways as a part to give back to the community.
