ROCKWALL, TX – November 3, 2020 — Rockwall County Helping Hands is calling on the community to help fill up the Food Pantry this holiday season.
With the pandemic, the Food Pantry at Helping Hands has seen a significant decrease in food drives to stock its shelves and feed those in need in Rockwall County. But the pandemic has also created a drastic increase in demand for the Food Pantry as lots of families have suffered job losses and income reduction.
Helping Hands invites all groups, organizations and businesses to help their neighbors in need by organizing food drives this holiday season for the pantry. The following is a list of target items needed for the pantry:
- Canned chicken
- Canned spaghetti sauce
- Cooking oil
- Dried beans
- Boxed potatoes
- Helpers (Hamburger, Tuna, Chicken)
- Canned chili
- Canned pasta (Spaghetti O’s, Ravioli)
- Boxed stuffing
- Cereal and oatmeal
- Canned tuna
- Ramen noodles
- Shampoo & conditioner
- Laundry soap
- Dish soap
The pantry is overstocked on the following items:
- Canned corn
- Canned green beans
- Assorted canned veggies
- Canned diced tomatoes
- Canned beans
- Canned soup
Thanks to the generous donations from the community, Helping Hands gives out more than 190,000 pounds of food each year to neighbors who are unable to put food on the table due to a crisis.
If you or your organization would be interested in conducting a food drive, contact Tarren Oswald, Director of Assistance & Referral/Food Pantry, at 972-771-4357 Ext. 206 or email email@example.com .
