Garland ISD staff set record number of Salvation Army Angel adoptions

GARLAND, TX – December 8, 2020 — Every year, the Garland ISD Research, Assessment & Accountability (RAAD) team organizes a Salvation Army Angel adoption drive. The district’s charitable staff typically adopt 100-plus Angels, but in classic Garland ISD style, the team surpassed expectations during a pandemic. Last year, staff adopted approximately 150 Angels during a non-COVID season. This year, Team GISD adopted 387 Angels—setting a district record, more than doubling last season’s number and making GISD the first “corporate” tree to have a 100% adoption rate. The RAAD crew even had to ask for more Angels twice, due to the demand.

“All I can say is WOW!! It was stunning at how many Angels were adopted this year,” said RAAD District Testing Coordinator Courtney Clearfield. “So many kids will be blessed by the generosity of our GISD staff!”

A big, inflatable Santa greeted staff as they safely dropped off their gifts from 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 at the Harris Hill Administration Building.

GISD is honored to have the most giving staff in the region, and the district is proud to recognize their generous efforts.
