ROCKWALL, TX – December 1, 2020 — Longtime Rockwall County Clerk Shelli Miller recently announced her retirement after nearly a decade of service to the community.

Miller made the announcement in the following letter of resignation dated today, Dec. 1, 2020, to Rockwall County Judge David Sweet:

“It has been an honor and a great privilege to serve Rockwall County as their County Clerk for the past ten years,” wrote Miller. “I have gained so much, both professionally and personally on this incredible journey. The experience has been priceless. I cannot thank my amazing staff, throughout the years for making me, and my office look so good. To both of my Chief Deputies, Lea Carlson from January 2011 through May 2014 and Jennifer Fogg from June 2014 to present, I can only say this job would have been impossible without you. I am blessed to have had each of you as a mentor and a friend. I am forever grateful for your dedication to my office and to me.”

Miller has been the recipient of several awards during her years in office, including the highly coveted 5 Star Award for Vital Statistics in 2016 from the Texas Department of State Health Services. Out of the 254 counties in the state of Texas, only 33 County Clerks met the stringent criteria to receive the award.

“I’m so thankful for Shelli’s years of service and commitment to the citizens of Rockwall County,” said Rockwall County Judge David Sweet. “She worked very hard at building a strong team truly committed to customer service. I wish her the very best in retirement.”

Sweet said the Commissioners Court will meet in executive session during their next meeting to discuss the appointment of a new County Clerk.
